RobT: Yup. Still raining here in Jacó, on the beautiful Pacific coast Costa Rica. The hills are now like the sand castles we used to build on the beach, one more drop of water and it all crumbles. We are still at Carter's place. Very grateful to him for being able to hang here.
Pool with island. Carter had to drain several inches out a few times after the rains.
Main house to the right.
Guest house where Rob and I were "bunking."
Two of eight macaws in a tree outside the kitchen window.
Vegetation by the pool.
Our guard dog, one of 3 Akitas.
One of the local roads/bridges - more water than they have ever seen here.
The beach in Jacó. The ocean was chocolate brown due to all the mud washed out from the rivers.
RobC: In spite of Carter's hospitality, great coffee and food, we are thinking about our next leg of the trip - trying to get to Panama. We are going to try to leave tomorrow, rain or shine, but by which route? There are several choices, but it is difficult to get precise information on road closings and bridge wash-outs.
We have now witnessed a hurricane in Belize, landslides in Guatemala, and floods in Costa Rica. What will be next? An earthquake? A coup d'état?
