So, I had chosen an F800GS, why? Well, it seemed to be a nice "in between" adventure touring machine, a step above the "single" and not the rig the 1200GS is. That's not to say I wouldn't have bought the 12 if the finances allowed. So without any further ado let me introduce my steed (prior to any farkling) .....
.... nice, eh? What I have added since this pic are things like:
Jesse side panniers and top box
bash plate
crash bars
headlight grill
fog lights
more to follow ......

How it all started .....
All Labels: |
Call it what you will ... an alignment of the planets, destiny, divine intervention, fate but i still believe our paths crossed merely because of our mutual passion for the inherent adventure riding a motorcycle brings.
It all started around the end of 2006. I was looking for a serious adventure in some remote place as far from home as possible. I began my search, of course, on the internet and a place in Peru kept showing up on my computer monitor, so i checked it out. Interesting but not 100% what i was looking for. My search continued for several months and all the while this little outfit in Arequipa continued to show itself with annoying persistence. I took another look. What i found was very interesting, a group of guys customizing a tour with the expertice of this outfit. It had everything I was looking for and whats more, they were opening the tour to an outsider. I contacted Lars at Perumotors and he put me in contact with Rob via e-mail. We exchanged several e-mails before we actually met in Port Huron at the Appleby's for lunch one Sunday in the spring of 2007. After all, we had to see if our personalities fit. After the gang parted ways that day I knew this was going to be an amazing trip to South America. We have kept in touch since then and been on two major motorcycle trips, all along talking of our "big" dream trip and what it would be like.
Funny how life tends to play out. We are now in the midst of organizing our "epic" trip!!
